Moni Yosef and Smadar Yaaron will be traveling to Vienna this week with their acclaimed show “The Anthology”. the show will run twice: on March 21th and 23rd, at Kasematten Wiener Neustadt theater. Order tickets here.

THE ANTHOLOGY is a development of a scene from ARBEIT MACHT FREI MITOITLAND EUROPA by David Maayan.
Zelma, a holocaust survivor, is alive and kicking in ACCO THEATER CENTER, Israel. Two things give her life meaning, her only son with whom she leads a complicated relationship and the music.

“When they ask me what kept me alive in the “Schwartz”, black era, I always say, it is the piano. We can tell the story to the world, of a nation, an individual, through the music”

The piano as a musical carpet, as an intimate friend that escorts the old lady all her life and always stays, is in a way an excuse and a background for chattering about all that occupies her: art, meaning of life, religion, metaphysics, education, spiritual search, old age and death. The audience is invited to sit around the piano, have a glass of cognac, be a witness to her murmuring and an active partner for a dialogue with her.

The Anthology was first presented in Zurcher Theater Spektakle, August 1977. Since 1977 The Anthology has toured all over Europe and was presented in: Berlin Festival, Szene Salzburg, Hamburg Summer Festival, Teatro Festival Parma, Dijon Theatre (France), Stuc Theatre (Brussels), Kaaitheatre (Belgium), Volterra Festival (Italy), Hong-Kong festival, Tokyo and more.
