At the Acre Theater Center, surprising and unusual connections occur between different types of audiences, in performances as well as in workshops.
In the center, regular workshops are held in the fields of movement, acting and drama and music, with audiences from sectors such as religious, traditional, Arab and immigrants, often in a direct encounter with the ‘other’, under the guidance of Muni Yosef and Khaled Abu Ali.
The artistic director of the theater Samdar Yaron conducts movement workshops – “Holy Dances”.
A theatrical tour of the alleys of the exciting port city, one of the oldest in the world, accompanied by characters from the great historical periods of Acre over 5000 years.
“Between the Walls” is a theater tour in the picturesque alleys of Old Acre, produced by the Acre Theater Center. Colorful shows that combine theater and history.
Napoleon Bonaparte, the French ruler who failed to conquer Acre goes out to look for his hat which was thrown between the walls, before his retreat from the walls of Acre, “If I didn’t succeed in conquering Acre – at least my hat will make history!” He read during the tour, Napoleon passionately leads the audience through the Ottoman period like a time tunnel, to a meeting with crusader knights and from there to a meeting with Ahmed al-Jazar and Salah al-Din, a theatrical tourist tour that blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, and ancient Acre and its heroes are resurrected into an unforgettable experience .
“Travel Theater” is a flexible program adapted to different groups, different audiences, and different durations, and allows you to put together: a basic tour with 2-6 actors, a show in the theater, and a meal of authentic hummus in the air-conditioned theater lobby under impressive and romantic stone arches.
Maysra Masri, an actor at the Acre Theater Center, holds workshops for young people and youth called “Get Up and Entertain!” – theater games, getting to know the stage, guiding stand-up comedy and more.
